Education Reporter, Bloomberg Government - November 2016 - July 2019

Cover federal education policy and spending in Congress and the Education Department. Broke news on legislation as it was introduced and moved through Congress. Paired daily reporting with enterprise and investigative stories on a variety of K-12 and higher education topics.

Reporter and Researcher, CQ Roll Call — July 2015 -November 2016

Covered education, labor and immigration issues in Congress in conjunction with the presidential campaign. Worked as part of a team developing a product to compile legislation and regulations in all 50 states, plus Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.

City Hall Reporter, Bryan-College Station Eagle — July 2014 - June 2015

Reported on both Bryan and College Station city governments as well as state legislation. Took on a variety of beats including business, oil and gas, and crime. Reported an award-winning series on fracking in the area.

Intern, The Cambodia Daily — January-April 2014

Reported and wrote local news, education and features stories for an English-language newspaper in Phnom Penh. Worked with local reporters to overcome language barriers. Interviewed top government officials. Explored new culture and successfully pitched multiple stories.

Washington Bureau Intern, The Dallas Morning News — June-December 2014

Covered the Texas delegation in Washington during debates on Syria and the government shutdown. Wrote several front page stories, including a profile of two immigration hardliners in the House Gang of Seven and a story about victims of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting struggling to receive full benefits. Part of White House press pool.
